The Ice Defender 2024
The Ice Defender
I developed the Ice tool in response to the increasingly violent street crimes I’ve seen or witnessed lately. Regardless of whether it is a carjacking, home invasion, or random acts of violence, these new street attackers have little regard for their victims’ safety or dignity. The tool is designed to provide a robust defense against such serious threats from these street criminals and their cowardly acts. The Ice tool was developed to provide true deterrence when normal methods were not sufficient.
I, Master Peter Brusso, needed to develop a tool that would stop someone from seriously hurting you and do that quickly. I have been developing these tools since 2004, and I have grown each model to meet specific capabilities. There are times when just enough pain will do the trick; however, there are times when you must say NO. The message must be clear and delivered with authority.
So, to approach this new threat from the street, I designed this tool to address the need to say a definitive NO to your attackers. I combined the head of the tool with three specific areas to help tell the attackers NO.
First, the sharp point on the front is also the beginning of the 35-degree chisel edge, and as such, where the edge meets the point, it is beyond sharp. This exceptionally sharp point works very well in your defense against a myriad of attacks. These would include punches, kicks, chokes (front or rear), and grabs.
The rear sharp saw-tooth section is wicked when used to scrape across soft tissue or even eyes. It can capture soft tissue, which allows you to move a person around like a rag doll. The head of the tool also has a digit capture hole that acts in a dual fashion. One captures fingers or thumbs for controlling your attacker, and the other is to be used with one of our Kydex holsters for easy carry plus quick deployment.
We have also included a finger bump to help retain the tool during a combat situation. This is helpful on a number of levels but also helps you to know which way the sharp point is oriented if you don’t look at the tool first. In some cases, you can orient the tool in the Kydex holster for left or right-handed use. But, with the finger retention bump, you don’t need to look at the tool to see the point orientation.
It also comes with a lanyard holes for easy daily carry. At the bottom of the tool are two chisel-edge cut areas that resemble a knife surface. The tool can cut and works well to attack grabbing hands or to push an attacker off of you with the sharp end of the handle.
Another great feature of this tool is that it is low profile. When you hold it in your hand, it is difficult for your attacker to see exactly what you are holding. This can cause some level of deterrence, as your attacker might be frightened because they don’t know what type of weapon you are ready to use on them. I have had many stories from customers who deployed self-defense weapons, and because the attackers didn’t know what it was, they ran away. Perfect self-defense!

The Ice tool is perfect when you want a fully capable self-defense ability that will stop your attacker or attackers. In a self-defense situation, you can’t fool around with your defense, so having a multifaceted tool like this is priceless when you need to act quickly and say no. Since these tools are not offensive by design, this makes things easier, as we only need to worry about half of a combat situation.
This self-defense tool is very powerful in design, and it must be used with extreme care, purpose, and responsibility. It must only be used in a legitimate self-defense situation. Users must know and adhere to all local, state, and federal laws regarding the use of a self-defense tool. In addition, I wouldn’t recommend trying to take this tool onto an aircraft. It has a sharp point, and therefore, it is currently not allowed by TSA.
Any of our tools with sharp points are most likely prohibited items on aircraft or similar devices. That being said, it is always good to check with the TSA website. Also, make sure to review the laws about carrying self-defense tools wherever you intend to carry them. Master Peter Brusso’s tools are for ethical and legal use only, and that is true with all my Defender products.
