RP Defender 2024

The RP Defender

I received an email one day asking me if I minded if a father and son team did a “Mash-up” of my defenders to produce something they really wanted to have. I, of course, said go for it. Let me see what you come up with.

I, Master Peter Brusso had been looking to make a smaller defender, perhaps something slightly larger than a credit card, but to that date, I haven’t been successful. This team did something very close to what I wanted to create. They sent me what is known today as the RP defender. This is a very compact defender that fits easily into your pockets.

They had used the curved feature of the owl for the front head, however smaller, and the saw tooth soft tissue feature of the Defender 2. They kept a digit capture hole and lanyard holes for easy carry options.

However, where the tool was shorter than usual, if it fits into the palm of your hand, they used a smooth curve, so it didn’t hurt your palm. The left a 90-degree point out the outside back of the tool to act like a sharp point to smash down on bony areas of the attacker’s body.

So, the tool is held in your hand with one finger through the digit capture hole and the rest of your fingers on the outside of the tool. Your grab naturally pulls the tool into the palm of your hand, making it very secure and easy to hold. Finally, your thumb is placed over the saw tooth soft tissue capture, ready to grab said targets.

The forward points are great against chokes, punches, kicks, and grabs. The 90-degree point at the rear of the tool is great for smashing down on bony areas of the body. The saw tooth section is just wicked for soft tissue grabs. If you want to perform a digit capture, remove your pointing finger out of the digit capture hole and go for a capture of their digit.

Another new attack vector uses the two front points, pushing them into soft parts of the abdominal area and twisting them. Of course, this will work with any area soft area of the body, arms, or legs.

I liked the tool and made an agreement to sell their design, although it was based on my inventions. All they wanted was the name. The father wanted his son’s name on it, Robert Paulson, and thus, it became the RP Defender. Let’s look at the features list of this unassuming defender.

Any tool with sharp points cannot pass a TSA checkpoint. It is best to place your pointed Defenders in your luggage for check-on of any vehicle that requires TSA clearance.

This self-defense tool is extremely powerful and should only be used responsibly in genuine self-defense situations. Users must be familiar with and comply with all local, state, and federal laws concerning the use of a self-defense tool.

Additionally, it’s essential to review the TSA’s list of prohibited items on flights or similar regulations. Make sure also to understand the laws regarding the carrying of self-defense tools in any location where you intend to have them.

My tools, like those from Master Peter Brusso, are intended for ethical and legal use only, and this principle applies to all of my Defender products.
