Extremely Aggressive — The ICE Defender
Some threats need a firm answer. The Ice was built for the moment you have to say NO — clearly, and with authority. A keen front point off a 35-degree chisel edge, a sawtooth control section, a digit-capture hole, a finger-retention bump, and a chisel edge at the handle base. It’s built to stop a serious threat and get you clear. Against a lesser threat it’s control; against someone who won’t stop, it takes away his ability to keep coming. And it’s low-profile — an attacker can’t tell what you’re holding, and that alone has sent plenty of them running.
At a glance:
- Built to stop a serious threat — control for a lesser threat, a functional stop when it counts
- Keen front point off a 35° chisel edge — against punches, kicks, chokes, and grabs
- Sawtooth control section — grip and move an attacker
- Digit-capture hole — attacker control, clicks into Kydex holsters
- Finger-retention bump — secure grip, tells you point orientation without looking
- Chisel edge at the handle base for close control
- Low-profile — attacker can’t see what you’re holding
- Ambidextrous — left- or right-handed carry
- Non-lethal — within the limits of legal self-defense
- Includes free, unlimited online Defender training
The Ice — for the moment you have to say NO
The story
I built the Ice in response to the kind of street violence I’ve been seeing more of lately — carjackings, home invasions, random attacks by people who show no regard for their victims. I needed a tool that would stop someone from seriously hurting you, and do it fast.
I’ve been building these tools since 2004, growing each model to meet a specific need. Sometimes just enough pressure does the job. But there are times when you have to say NO — clearly, and with authority — and the tool has to deliver that message. The Ice is built for those times.
The head brings three working areas together. First, the front point sits at the start of a 35-degree chisel edge, so where the edge meets the point it comes to a fine geometry — and it works well against a whole range of attacks: punches, kicks, front or rear chokes, and grabs. Second, the rear sawtooth section grips and controls — it catches and lets you move an attacker off you. Third, the digit-capture hole does double duty: capture a finger or thumb to control an attacker, and mount the tool in a Kydex holster for fast carry and deployment.
There’s a finger-retention bump, too — it keeps the tool locked in your hand during a struggle, and it does something clever: it tells you which way the point is oriented without looking, so even drawing from a holster set for your left or right hand, you know where the point is by feel. Lanyard holes round out the carry options. And at the base of the handle, two chisel-edge areas give you a close-control surface — for working against grabbing hands or pushing an attacker off you to make distance.
Same idea behind it as every Defender: not pain for its own sake, and never to punish. The Ice is built to stop the threat and get you clear. Against a lesser threat it’s a control tool; against someone who won’t stop, it takes away his ability to keep coming. Same tool, your judgment, matched to the moment.
Here’s a point I want to make plainly, because it matters: these tools are defensive by design, not offensive. That actually makes them simpler to use well — you’re only ever solving half of a fight, the half where you stop what’s coming at you and leave. That’s the whole job.
And one more real advantage: the Ice is low-profile. Held in your hand, an attacker can’t tell what it is — and that uncertainty is its own deterrent. I’ve heard from customers whose attackers simply ran, because they didn’t know what they were facing. A threat that ends before it starts is the best outcome self-defense can give you.
Key features:
1. Tri-functional head — point, sawtooth, and capture hole working together

TSA
Any tool with a point can’t clear a TSA checkpoint. I wouldn’t recommend trying to bring the Ice through security — when you fly, pack your pointed Defenders in checked luggage rather than a carry-on, and check the TSA website if you’re unsure.
Legal
The Ice is a very capable tool, and it’s meant only for genuine, responsible self-defense — to stop a threat and get you to safety, never to punish an attacker and never to threaten or intimidate. It’s defensive by design. Self-defense law protects proportional force used to stop a threat, and that’s exactly what this tool is for. You’re responsible for knowing and following all local, state, and federal laws on carrying and using a self-defense tool wherever you go, including TSA rules when you travel. Laws on pointed and bladed-appearance self-defense tools vary quite a bit from place to place, so check your area carefully before you carry. Every Defender is made for ethical, legal use only.
