Extremely Aggressive — The Houser

The Houser — named for a Marine they called Stonewall

The Houser is named after Lieutenant Colonel Chris Houser, USMC (retired). His call sign was Stonewall — a handle he earned yelling at the enemy mid-attack. That was his level of diplomacy, and a tool built for that kind of warrior had to be the same: no-nonsense, and to the point.

Colonel Houser is a personal friend of mine. I helped outfit some of his gear when he deployed to Iraq, and we got close over the years. He also became a character in my novel The Invisible War — the Norski Saga, Book 1 — and he carries this very tool in the book. That’s how the Houser came to exist.

The story

Let me be clear about what this is. The Houser is not the tool for a family party where somebody’s had too much and needs settling down. It’s built to stop a genuine, severe threat — for people who need real protection, quickly. That’s the whole design brief.

It fits the hand ergonomically for a secure grip when it matters most, and you can wrap the handle with paracord or friction tape for extra comfort and purchase. The main chisel-edge striking surface is built for focused strikes; the curved primary surface concentrates the force, and the sawtooth edges on both ends give you grip and control for counter-grabs. The shape lets you work both hammer-style strikes and precise close control. And it carries a digit-capture hole — slip an attacker’s finger into it for immediate control — which also clicks into our Kydex holsters.

Same idea behind it as every Defender: not pain for its own sake, and never to punish. The Houser is built to stop the threat and get you clear. Against a lesser threat it’s a control tool; against someone who won’t stop, it takes away his ability to keep coming. Same tool, your judgment, matched to the moment.

Here’s the nice part about the design: even under stress, the Houser naturally orients itself correctly in your hand — so whether you’re meeting a grab, a strike, or anything else, you’re always ready to deploy it. And despite how robust it is, it carries an unusual look — something almost like a piece of old Egyptian jewelry. Distinctive, and unmistakably yours. It comes in three finishes: Clear, Black, and Blood Red.

TSA

Any tool with points or edges can’t clear a TSA checkpoint. When you fly, pack your pointed Defenders — the Houser included — in checked luggage rather than a carry-on.

Legal

The Houser is meant only for genuine, responsible self-defense — to stop a severe threat and get you to safety, never to punish an attacker and never to threaten or intimidate. Self-defense law protects proportional force used to stop a threat, and that’s exactly what this tool is for. You’re responsible for knowing and following all local, state, and federal laws on carrying and using a self-defense tool wherever you go, including TSA rules when you travel. Laws on pointed and bladed-appearance self-defense tools vary quite a bit from place to place, so check your area carefully before you carry — both where you live and anywhere you plan to take it. Every Defender is made for ethical, legal use only.
