GENERAL DISCUSSION
Great martial arts like krav maga, muay Thai, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, jeet Kune do, kung fu, mixed martial arts, combat sports, street boxing, and other traditional martial arts have influenced techniques that find their way into combat techniques. Close quarters combat is a collection of bare hands techniques, street fighting techniques, and other self-defense technique. Those used or taken into the military programs consist of knee strikes, elbow strikes, physical fitness, and other fighting skills. To be sure close combat deals with violent situation and very dangerous situations as well. One very good thing, the best ways, is with a training partner and no time limits.
A military fighting system and training programs need to focus on particular technique that address the battlefield. One singular martial arts system doesn’t do that. The United States Marine Corps has developed, from scratch a system designed from different fighting styles and uses instructional videos to reach the Marines in remote locations. In my opinion, the MCMAP [Marine Corps Martial Arts Program] program is superior to any other combat system I have seen used in the military. It is real world based, uses proven best techniques, the best fighting techniques, and produces a great Marine who has mastered hand-to-hand combat skills you can depend upon on the battlefield. The MCMAP deals with all potential threats, even those in non-combat area’s like an embassy plus it is a military occupational specialty! It handles knife fighting, deadly weapon use, crucial skill development for the battlefield, and can cause serious damage to the enemies of the USA. All military contact combat systems should encompass real fight issues, fitness training and help our warriors get in top physical shape. How to handle a death situation is a must, marksmanship training, life skills, self defense, joint locks, and all this built into a hand-to-hand training system.
FOCUS IS THE KEY TO SURVIVAL
In any situation, whether you’re in a street fight or defending yourself from an attacker, focus is key. If you can focus on the here and now and what you need to do to survive, you’ll increase your chances of making it out alive.
That’s not to say that hand-to-hand combat techniques aren’t essential – they are. But if you can’t focus on the task at hand, those techniques won’t do you any good. So how do you stay focused in a fight?
First, realize that your life is at stake. This may seem like obvious advice, but it’s easy to get caught up in the moment and forget just how serious the situation is. When you’re faced with an attacker, remind yourself that if you don’t act quickly and decisively, you could die.
Second, focus on your breathing. When you’re in a fight, it’s essential to stay calm and focused. One way to do this is to focus on your breathing. Breathing deeply and slowly can help you stay calm and think clearly. It can also help you avoid getting winded during a fight. If you’re feeling panicked or overwhelmed, take a few deep breaths and try to relax.
HOW DO YOU CAUSE A PERSON TO BE KNOCKED OUT?
To knock someone out requires that you can make their skull move faster than their brain and the brain “runs into” the skull, thus causing a “knockout” blow. Surrounding the brain is a fluid that isolates the brain, in a protective fashion, between the brain and our skull. Under normal physical conditions of acceleration, the skull and brain move at the same speed, and all the time, this fluid layer around the brain “cushions it” from injury. When the skull moves quicker than the brain can move, the brain “runs into” the inside of the skull, which causes a shock that “knocks” you out. It’s all about acceleration.
There are a few different ways to knock someone out. One way is to hit them on the chin with an uppercut. This will cause their head to snap back, and they will be momentarily stunned. This “stunning” is really the knockout method. By hitting the chin in an upwards motion, you are accelerating the skull faster than the brain can move, thus causing a brain injury that results in a knockout.
Another lesser-known way to knock someone out is to cause a brain swell. This brain injury takes a few seconds to minutes to set into effect. If you attack the skull with sufficient force to break or puncture the skull bone, you will cause a “bruising” injury to the brain. In other words, you make the brain bleed. This bleeding causes fluid pressure to build up in the brain injury area, resulting in a person losing consciousness and leading to death.
This brain injury attack can be from a blunt force trauma attack or even a punch to the skull. The easiest places to achieve this are attacks to the temples and the very top of the skull, where we have “suture” lines or “bone joints.”
HOW TO KNOCK OUT AN OPPONENT IN ONE PUNCH
You can do a few things to increase the chances of landing a one-punch knockout in close quarters combat. First, you need to have a strong and powerful punch. This means working on your punches in the gym and building up the muscles in your arms, shoulders, and chest. You also need to know how to properly throw a punch with good form and technique.
Another critical factor is timing. You need to be able to time your punches so that you connect with your opponent’s head at the right moment. This takes practice and experience, but there are a few things you can do to improve your timing. One is to focus on your opponent’s head and upper body rather than their feet. Another is to relax your body and keep your hands loose until you see an opportunity to strike.
Because you’re always looking for the opening, your hands will be in a position to punch as soon as your opponent leaves themselves open. In order to be prepared for any self-defense situation, it is vital to have some hand-to-hand combat techniques in your arsenal. This type of close-quarters combat can be the difference between life and death in a dangerous situation. While there are many different ways to defend yourself, these five hand-to-hand combat techniques are simple and effective for anyone to learn.
ONE-TOUCH KILL ATTACK
In a one-touch kill attack, the goal is to take out your opponent with a single move. The focus of this move is to move their head so fast, in a twisting and smooth motion about their neck. This move “twists” the head about the vertebrae of the neck and causes a neck break. This neck break is usually fatal and final in the fight.
This move can start from a choke in close quarters combat or even just standing in front of the person. Reach up with your non-favored hand and place the palm of that hand on the chin.
Next, with your favored hand, you reach around behind the head and place it on the skull. Then a simple, quick “push-pull” motion, you push the chin away and pull the skull toward you in a twisting motion. You can also add your body weight in a fluid motion by stepping back and pulling the attacker toward you at the same time you are making the twisting motion. If you do all this fast, then the neck will break. If not, you have performed a fantastic throw to the ground where the attacker is injured and most likely will not get back up quickly from the ground.
THE 12 MOST EFFECTIVE HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT ATTACKS
When it comes to hand-to-hand combat, there are a few moves that stand out as the most effective. In martial arts, there are three levels of attack. There is structure, function, and death. Your attacks can also be classified as “degradation of base” or removing the ability for your attacker to function as an aggressor. A quick example of that is if you break their knee, they can’t stand up to fight you! If you remove their sight, then they can’t see you to attack you.
For close quarters combat, these attacks fall into these categories. Here are the 12 best hand-to-hand combat attacks:
1) The groin kick. This move is incredibly effective at disabling an opponent and can even be fatal if delivered with enough force. This is a function attack.
2) The eye gouge. This is another move that can disable an opponent and can also cause permanent damage if done correctly. This is both a function and structure attack. This is also a degradation of base.
3) The throat strike. A well-placed strike to the throat can crush the trachea and kill an opponent instantly. This is a function attack. This is also a degradation of base.
4) The headbutt. This move is often used as a surprise attack and can easily stun or knock out an opponent. This is a function attack.
5) The knee strike. A well-placed strike to the knee can cripple an opponent and make them easy to finish off. This is also a degradation of base.
6) Floating rib attacks. This is a structure attack.
7) The kidney punch. A strike to the kidneys can disable an opponent and make them easy to finish off. This is a function attack.
8) The elbow strike. A well-placed strike to the elbow can break it, making the limb useless.
9) The knee kick. This is a structure attack. This is also a degradation of base.
10) Hammer fist to the top of the head. This is a function attack.
11) Cat paw attack. This is a function attack. This is also a degradation of base.
12) Neck chop. This is a function attack.
HOW TO DISARM AN OPPONENT IN A SEC
Most people think of hand-to-hand combat as a physical altercation between two people. However, there is more to it than just exchanging punches and kicks. In a self-defense situation, you may need to know how to disarm an opponent who is armed with a weapon.
The four primary weapons disarm laws for close quarters combat are:
1) Clear the angle of attack of the weapon.
2) Control the weapon.
3) Disarm the weapon.
4) Neutralize the attacker.
In addition, if they have a firearm, then you want to close the distance between you and the attacker. A firearms advantage is it is a long-distance weapon. You can’t do much if you are far away from the weapon, so close the distance to take that advantage away and give yourself a chance to get perform the weapons disarm laws above. If they have a bladed weapon, open the distance between you and the attacker.
This forces them to make a committed attack toward you and also gives you more time to react to the attack. You can see it coming rather than being so close that you can’t see them starting a stabbing attack, giving you no time to react properly. There is a great video by Master Brusso on “simple weapon disarms” that you can purchase to learn these techniques. You can see the resources below the conclusion of this article.
HOW TO THROW A PUNCH
There is nothing more empowering than learning how to throw a punch. Whether you are interested in self-defense or simply want to be able to defend yourself in a street fight, knowing how to properly throw a punch can make all the difference. Here are some tips on how to throw a punch:
1. Start by making a fist. Your first should be tightly clenched with your thumb positioned over your index and middle fingers.
2. Bring your fist up to your chin, keeping your elbow close to your body. This is called the “guard position” and will help protect your face from incoming punches.
3. From the guard position, extend your arm and push off from your back leg to generate power as you thrust your fist forward into your target. Do not rotate your elbow out as you see in most “hard style” punching. This can result in you getting your elbow broken. Instead, keep your elbow in; thus, your fist will have the thumb on top and not horizontal to the ground. It’s a “boxers” way to punch.
HOW TO BLOCK A PUNCH
Parrying and blocking are the first line of defense in hand-to-hand combat. By using your arms and hands to deflect or “redirect” an incoming punch, you can avoid taking the full impact of the blow. Here are some tips on how to properly block a punch:
Always keep your elbows close to your body and tuck your chin when blocking. This will help protect your head and face from getting hit.
Extend your arm to the side from which the punch is coming, and use the palm of your hand or the side of your forearm to deflect the punch away from your body. Push the punch upward and outward rather than simply trying to stop it mid-air.
As you block, step toward the person who is punching you. This will help you maintain balance and keep them off-kilter.
HOW TO FIGHT DIRTY
In a street fight, the rules go out the window. You have to be willing to do whatever it takes to win, even if that means fighting dirty. Here are some tips on how to fight dirty and come out on top:
1) Go for degradation of base attacks where possible. Remove their ability to continue to attack you. If they can’t stand up, can’t see you, can’t move their arm(s) to punch you, then you have removed their ability to wage war on you. You have taken their base of war away from them. How do you do this? By any means possible, and that means weapons, improvised weapons, weapons of opportunity like a rock even!
2) Focus on attacking the eyes, which is both a degradation of base but also a function attack. If they can’t see you or, even worse, their eye is hanging out of their eye socket, this not only takes the function away but it adds a significant psychological factor to the mix.
Also, the little-known effect of an eye hanging down out of the socket is that the brain doesn’t know which eye to use to gain it’s spatial reference, and the attacker will simply fall over. To make matters worse, the attacker will suffer vertigo and then nausea, resulting in them throwing up.
3) Use anything and everything as a weapon. There is no such thing as a fair fight so use everything at your disposal to attack your opponent. Hands full of sand to throw into the eyes, boards to use to beat them and break bones. Car doors to slam into their hands or arms.
Tire irons to beat them with if you might be trying to replace a flat at the time of the attack. Hot coffee in the face and eyes. If you are working on your engine, you might have a bottle of antifreeze that you can use to throw into their eyes. If you are loading your groceries into your car, you can use a bag full of can goods to swing and hit them.
The edge of a can of vegetables makes for a good weapon. You can even look at our website https://pdws.biz and see how we use CD ROMs as an improvised weapon. There are more weapons around you than you might think. And all this leads to a very surprised attacker.
